Jason Barnaby

Meet Jason

Jason Barnaby has been in sales since he was 10 years old as a newspaper carrier for the Indianapolis News and Indianapolis Star. He got his first sales award at age 11 when he sold enough new subscriptions to the newspaper to win a trip to see the Chicago Cubs. He didn’t pitch product or benefits of the news. He simply knocked on the door and said, “Hello my name is Jason Barnaby. Would you like to help me reach my goal so I can go see my first-ever, real life professional baseball game in Chicago?”

Working retail in high school, waiting tables in college and after (as a "professional ski bum”), owning a coffee shop in Europe, teaching ESL in a private Polish Business School, working as an adjunct at DeVry teaching composition, selling, managing and leading sales in retirement services and then on his own when he founded Fire Starters Inc in May, 2018, Jason has had at least one foot in sales throughout his entire life. Yes, “selling” the idea of why composition is important to adults in evening classes is selling!

As a fractional sales leader,

Jason works to give busy executives running sales “off the side of their desk” a week a month of their time back. Whether it’s the weekly sales meeting, one-on-ones with sales team members, CRM management, pipeline review or sales metrics, Jason handles it all to allow the company leaders to do what they do best–lead!  In his role as a fractional sales leader and story telling sales trainer, Jason has worked with companies and their employees all over the world. He has worked with sales teams at companies as small as 50 to companies with as many as 100,000 employees.

Additionally, as an Enneagram certified coach, Jason works with each individual of the sales team to better understand and develop their interpersonal and professional skills. This helps build team synergy and create a sales culture that truly works as a cohesive and supportive team. It is not uncommon while working with sales teams for Jason to also work as a coach for members of the executive team.

Jason is a native Hoosier and graduate of Indiana University. While there, he was a founding member of IU Dance Marathon—a student-led organization donating to Riley Children’s Hospital for over a quarter century that has raised over $50 million to date.

He has self-published two books Igniting The Fire Starter Within and 30 Days to Blaze (soon to be re-released under a new title, Ignite Your Life), and is currently working on book #3 focused on a made up word from his first book, “WhatIfAbouts”. The definition of this word is the pesky doubts and fears that work hard to keep us stuck and afraid. In his keynote speaking, Jason has collected over 1200 WhatIfAbouts that will be catalogued and analyzed as the subject matter of this book.

With over 14,000 hours in front of classrooms, conference rooms, training rooms, board rooms and stages across the country. Jason is a sought after national speaker delivering #actionableinspiration to every audience he speaks to.

Outside of professional pursuits Jason is a devoted husband of over 28 years, a proud father of 3, a writer, reader, musician, and serious coffee junkie.
